How far in advance should you book movers in Austin?

For most moves in Austin, booking your movers 2 to 3 weeks out is ideal. The earlier the better, especially in summer and at the end of the month, because those dates fill first. Long-distance moves need more planning, so call us as early as you can. Moving sooner than 2 weeks? Call anyway. Weekday openings do come up.

Why some dates fill up first in Austin

Weekends

Most people want to move when they're off work, so Friday, Saturday and Sunday book up first. Weekends are often a little more expensive, too.

The end and start of each month

Most apartment leases in Austin end at the end of a month, so the last few days of a month and the first few of the next are some of the busiest moving days of the year. If you can move mid-month, you'll have more choices.

Summer

Summer is moving season. Families move between school years, and Austin's student and apartment leases turn over in late summer. Summer is our busiest season too, so book early and plan for the heat. Morning starts are cooler for everyone.

Closing dates

Buying or selling a home? Book your movers as soon as closing is scheduled. Closing dates shift, so call us right away if yours moves.

Why booking early helps you

  • You get your pick of dates and start times. Morning starts go first.
  • You can choose a weekday. Weekdays are often a little less expensive.
  • You have time to reserve your building. Elevators and loading docks often need to be booked ahead at both buildings.
  • You can plan packing. For homes bigger than a 2-bedroom apartment, we usually pack the day before, and that needs its own slot.

  2. Confirm the details with our team: home size, stairs or elevators, special items and parking.
  3. Sign your estimate, choose a protection plan and pay the deposit to hold your date.
  4. Reserve the elevator and loading dock at both buildings, if you have them.
  5. Start your Austin moving checklist.

Can you book movers last minute in Austin?

Sometimes, yes. Weekday openings come up, and we'll always tell you honestly whether we can fit you in. Same-day requests are checked with a manager before we confirm. The fastest way is to call (512) 676-5375. Our phones are answered 9am–6pm, 7 days a week.

If you're booking late, a few things help: be flexible on the day and start time, be fully packed, and have a list of your big and heavy items ready so we can quote you quickly.

How to get the best moving date

  • Pick a Monday to Thursday if your schedule allows.
  • Avoid the last 2 days and first 2 days of the month if you can.
  • Ask for a morning start, especially in summer.
  • Have a backup date in mind before you call.
