Austin to San Antonio movers
Butter Brothers moves homes and offices from Austin to San Antonio and New Braunfels, about 80 miles down I-35. San Antonio moves are quoted by the hour, like a local move, and done in one day. Our own crew drives the truck the whole way, so the same crew that loads your things in Austin unloads them in San Antonio. Premium care for the whole trip: every piece padded and wrapped, floors protected, furniture taken apart and put back together.
The drive from Austin to San Antonio
San Antonio is about 80 miles south of Austin on I-35, through Buda, Kyle, San Marcos and New Braunfels. Off-peak it's well under two hours by car. At rush hour, and with a loaded moving truck, plan on longer.
The SH 130 toll road is the other option: it runs east of Austin down to I-10 near Seguin, then into San Antonio. It's more miles, but it skips the I-35 corridor.
We plan the start time and the route around traffic, so the day runs smoothly.
What to know about the drive
- One of the busiest stretches in the countryTxDOT has ranked I-35 between Austin and San Antonio among the most congested highways in the U.S., carrying 100,000 to 150,000 vehicles a day.
- Known slow spotsTxDOT lists the areas around Buda, most of San Marcos down to New Braunfels, and Schertz and Cibolo as hot spots.
